Never thought of a goodbye

Kakashi leaned against the tree reading his Icha Icha. He wondered where Sora was, she was late. They usually planned it so they could meet and go eat in between the time they had missions. Both were very busy and both tried to be good friends.

Everything was set. She was leaving Konoha to help fight against Pein and the remaining members of Akatsuki.
She dragged her feet along; wondering if that was the path Sasuke took, when he too, defected from the village.
She didn't even notice her closest friend as she moved toward the gate.

He looked at her and tilted his head at her expression. She wasn't her usual vivacious self and he called out.

"Yo" he said not needed to say any more words.

She turned and smiled sadly "Hey you."

"Sup? Aren't you finished that damn book yet, Kakashi?"

He shrugged and put it back in his vest.

"I'm rereading it . What's with your attitude? Forgot our meeting?" he asked.

"Yeah...I'm sorry, I did. I had other things on my mind," she said, looking down at the ground "We could eat now, if you like?"

She smiled up at him, hoping he'd accept her invite. It'd be the last time, after all.

He smiled from behind his mask, it was obvious that he was smiling from his eyes. Through the years he knew that she recognized his expressions.

"Sure, I'm buying " he said.
